You said you dreamed me, said, you hoped I would be valiant
and I dreamed you would simply be kind
You wondered what I would look like,
how subtly I moved,
dreamed me sharp and earth-toned
and I saw disappointment in your eyes
as you entered the terminal.
You came from California.
They would look different there.
They would have sun in their hair
skin-kissed brown
long flowing skirts to bar warm
Pacific winds
It is cold. February fourteenth.
I clutch red and white roses
with clay hearts pinned in styrofoam,
wear a black suit
and a parka.
You were kind as you left.

I'm not sure what this is about exactly, but I do like the feel of it. You describe a love, or a romance, that sounds quite wonderful, yet still something to be nervous about. I like that. Good job!

Sighhh...I knew this one would be lovely. I also knew it would be borne of sorrow. Anyone who would view you with any disappointment needs to have their eyes checked, my dear Friend. You can only ever be beautiful. Good luck in the contest, Sweetie.
