Sorrow has a way of incising
through to bone and sinew
to take up residence in marrow
swilling, swirling, trilling
to unspoken things
as if it loved that most
here you are, mouthful
of things to move me
but it prophesizes
I am alone because my arteries
hum goodbye to every good thing
until I am worn weak
trying to make a coup
for a full-body take-over
by blue stew of yesterday’s
leavings warring to keep hold
of harrowing things
banging against its sutured seams
until release of abscessed tears
