Awakened by nights silent scream
The deep drum of my heart recovers slowly
From pasts swift uninvited visit
I close my heart against stale liquor and heavy breath
Harsh hands invading my tiny frame
hold teddy closer
Muffled cries and pointless tears within goose down pillows
And the pain
All just a memory
Damp pillows cradle a tired mind
As sleep beckons but does not come

Sad....I hope this wasn't a personal memory. Thanks for writing on this topic. I was deeply moved.

Wow. This one is good. It hurt me, almost physically, to read this, it is such a dark subject. No child should ever be exposed to this type of pain. But the reality remains, and you wrote a nice piece here. Thanks for entering.

This is powerful, tragic
and beautiful.
You write effectively,
I am moved.

Such a beautiful sad poem written about a terrible injustice!!
I feel the pain etched in the words! I know the very same fear.
I hope this write helped somewhat in the healing!

Good imagry...my friend told me once that a good poet paints a picture with words.
You painted a great picture with this one....and yet you also left things simple for the imagination. If you wrote this from personal expiericne...I am truely sorry. keep writing, it helps. -
oh dear...
this leaves me aching...my soul aches...
so powerfully penned...I actually feel fear...and I almost feel like I'm struggling for breath...
this is heartbreaking...
such a sad memory to visit...and I pray that someday...soon...no more visits shall come to your pretty head...or heart...
only peace and the knowledge that you are so very, very loved!
