Winter Memories

I stand leaning into the wind
Letting it wrap around me as your memories always do
Will I ever love again?
To myself and you I can't be true

It feels like years have past from us
Yet as much as I fight it I can't let go
Somewhere along the way our love faded to lust
Still I always thought you'd be mine to hold

The winter air whips around me
Caressing me as you used to do
Thoughts of you won't let me be
This sorrow it seems will never be through

Love and hate for you fold into one
Did you ever love me this much?
Somehow it seems this has just begun
The unfading memories of your touch

I close my eyes and see your face
Smiling just as I remember
I'll stay forever in this place
In the bleak land of December
