Always (Part Three)

I don't deserve you, but I'm thankful that you're with me

In heart and in spirit, I feel you warming
My nougat center, my lips remember
Touching yours, my fingers clutching
Your velvet hips, your silken tresses.

I close my eyes to kiss you,
But still see you imprinted in my grateful mind.

You are the delirium within me,
The happiness that boils over
And animates this rough-hewn sculpture,
This bas-relief of cold unfeeling marble
Thus thaws, and becomes a relieved soul.

I quiver when you're near me,
When we're folded into each other
Like an old and comfortable pair of shoes
That you never want to throw away.
We are droplets running in parallel
Along the edge of a melting icicle,
Meeting at the end, falling together,
Becoming one puddle.

I don't deserve you, but I'm glad you're here,
I'm glad you love me, too.
