Gentleman Caller

The gentleman caller with boutonnier,
with bouquet he would appear.
Right on time with manners, ringing your bell,
so respectful you could tell.

A vanishing breed are these few good men,
on a scale he is a ten.
So hard to find the good ones are taken,
so missed when dreams awaken.

More are like nightmares that won't go away,
breaking our hearts day by day.
So conceited we are feathers in their caps,
sly like foxes setting their traps.

Where are all the good men  honest and true,
the ones that won't dump on you.
The men you can trust an won't lie like rugs,
for no reason gives you hugs.

Where are the men who can love one forever,
one who would hurt us never.
The search is endless, it is so hard to find,
a faithful man loving and kind.

To live in the days when chivalry was so right,
damsels saved by brave knights.
Men did not treat women like one of the guys,
where are the men of the eras gone by.

This is such a beautiful and amazing poem and think that you were a bit cheated...You deserved more than an HM for this poem...the flow and imagery were truly outstanding and leaving an ever beautiful impression upon my brow...I consider myself a gentleman, brought up in ways of the old, respect and honor of the woman, who usually has hold of our heart...My dad and Mother raised me properly and I am proud to be a gentleman I absolutely loved this poem and want to say thank you ever so much for writing it!!!

I really enjoyed this. I am so pleased you moved from manners (which are delightful) to integrity (which is essential)! The damsels didn't insist on being "one of the guys" or get miffed at one holding a door! I think we women are in part to blame...
Very nice! Congrats on the HM!

They ARE!!!!! out there trust me.The trouble with us ladies is that we all too often want the (Perfect) man.We write a list and wait for him to tick all the right boxes and then wonder why we never find him.I see so many lonely men and lonely women. It's time they got together.Shall we have a party????????Loved the poem by the way , Ros

truth found in these sad days when honor and chivalry has been forgotten... yet if you keep looking there are still a few of us around!

Keep penning on one stroke at a time!

    WoW Sandy:

I could not have said it any better myself.....

All the good ones are taken or just plainly

hate women, or are simply, "all about them"....

You hit the nail right on the head with this one....

I enjoyed the truthfulness felt throughout this piece,

the flow and tone of same, and the message came

    through perfectly clear.....

I thank you my dear friend for sharing this piece

    with me on this site,

and blessed be with love and light always.....

    Your friend always,

    AngelicMistress...Tanya

    beautiful

hey, this was great. i really liked the final stanza, though i did think the rhyming was a bit forced, especially the "hugs" rhyme in the fourth stanza. just a thought. thanks for sharing.
