Samba rhythms meet the heat, throbbing drums
keep the beat, bodies sway to swooning dips;
guitar sings his dance, syncopated strums
swiveling twirls and roundly rolling hips;
Cavaquinho storming the night away.
Hypnotic weave of waist and flaring sway
stringed voicings arise and drums start to pound
pulse of the thumping, bumping Latin sound.

Heroic Rispetto. Rhyme pattern- abab,ccdd.
Samba Dance- the sound of Brazil. A fast paced rhythmic steps, in pairs; pandeiro and cavaco [flat drum and a four string guitar] are the typical sound of Brazilian samba.
Guitar is personified, storm element of nature, and dancers. The cavaquinho (pron. /ka.va.'ki.ɲu/ in Portuguese is a style of guitar important to the unique Samba sound.

oooooh. I loved this Samba and such a "sexy guitar"
"guitar sings his dance, syncopated strums
swiveling twirls and roundly rolling hips;"
I will never look at a guitar again without thinking of those lines. This is just wonderful and an Heroic Rispetto to boot. THIS I AM SO PLEASED to see.
You have written beautifully to our prompts. I loved it. Well done Poet! ~Pamela

Delightful! The mention of cavaquinho made me think of Jorge playing the Ave Maria. Ah, what a wonderful topic and poem. Made me think of the sounds of home.
Obrigada

Oh yes, magnificent rhythms here and perfect syllable count as well. Great to see this form in heroic measure. And the Latin dances are among my top favorites. The nature part is downplayed here, but the rest of it really moves upon the page!

hmmm... off to you tube to see if I can dig up some cavaquinho or even a samba or two. The second stanza really takes off.
