Epiphany of the Dog

Out of doors late at night
Too late for our young souls
Too late for bedtime
Just in time to be grounded
Popi is waiting
I have to get home

Soon to be ex-boyfriend
making all kinds of moves
We stood there arguing over our lost love
Him making excuses
Me being so unwilling to forgive

We should be making out
not fighting he'd say
I have to get home
Popi will be coming to get me
because I was not home
when I said I would be home
and that's not like me

Popi is so going to punish me

We argued
When the dog was stuck down
We watched in horror

I still wanting home
and sleep more then being here

He reacted to this dog like it was his
But it never was

We stood close doing all he could
I not wanting to touch the dog
Life is leaving this dog
it is bleeding in the street

While the dog bleed out leaving
A long large blanket of red
I stood in my white tennis shoes

Thinking there’s nothing we can do
Life is leaving this unknown dog
Death is rushing
Life is fleeing
let it go
leave this dog

As I watch him feel
more for this dog then us
then me

I wondering if the dog's
blood will reach my shoes
cover them
as it bleeds

So help me
life is leaving
let the dog go!

I’ve never really seen this much blood

Where do we go.....

From here?

From the darkness
From above from the building
people laughed at us

But this was sad, not for us

But the dog that lay here
So far from his owner
If he had an owner
As it bleeds in the street

I looked to my once lover and thought
How much do I hate you right now?
How much do I not need you?

How much would it cost me
to have Popi ground me
and forbid me from ever seeing you again?

I'd obey it to the letter
How much!
How much would it really cost me?

I wish to be home
Not here, never here

Does God take prayers for dogs?
I never owned dogs, I have cats
Prayed for felines when they died
or ran away

I never prayed for a dog
A dog I didn't know
this unknown dog

For felines all the way
For dogs another day

Well, Maybe a small prayer for this dog
This unknown dog
This unknown dog that helped me understand
That this relationship was long dead
Just like this dog
Bleeding in the street

Death is rushing
Life is leaving
Life is fleeing
Death is here

Epiphany of the dog

  • WOW! Was this a real life story? It was really well written. I loved the story, it was sad but I'm glad you finally got over the guy in the end. You're better than him anyway =)

    Lovely

What teenagers go through in relationships and learning to let go. That's the hardest lesson is life to morn over a reationship. "But the dog that lay here
So far from his owner/If he had an owner/As it bleeds in the street" I like how you say leave this dog meaning the dog itself and the boy. Good work.
