Always (Part One)

The hollow laughter, wanton depravity,
The plodding connivances of the childish, demented mind:
These are empty gestures that will not sway me,
Will not be an obstacle to true love.

It almost worked, but what wasn't counted on
Was the strength of my conviction,
My commitment to her happiness.
Mere haughtiness cannot move me,
For I see beyond the wiles,
The truth of ache is clear,
And I will unchain her from it,
And she will be freed forever
From the clutches of despairing puerile cunning
That falls flatly and impotently.

It was a daring ploy,
But it only served to make me stronger;
I will never quit, I will never stop
Loving her.

Not at your command, not at your desire,
For you have failed, my clever friend.
