River Song (A Rispetto)

Missing image
Mountain Brook IV Painting by Laurel Ellis

Gliding over rocks and pebbles
soft ripples feeling, run my flesh;
lilting gentle trumpet rebels,
singing my songs well tuned and fresh.

And as I glisten I will sing
a gloried song for heralding!
My liquid fingers pet and slide
moving emotion deep inside.

Now this is the time of year for me to read this, when I can really hear the brook's babbling once again with the winter run-off and spring tunes up for the dance.

I have to be honest here and say that I have no idea what a Rispetto is other than the obvious...a dance. However I truly don't think that i need to know that in order to find the beauty captured within this piece. I believe that you did a wonderful job and am glad to see that you entered your own contest..

Pamela, you did wonders with such a tight form as the Rispetto and my what wonders. I enjoy personification of nature and what is more appropriate to personify than the fluid ever in motion river, which is a natural dancer! Marvelous work! I am so entering that contest!

I'll never be able to look at a brook without thinking of a minuet now. Love your notes and the contest prompt is really brilliant, Pamela - I hope you get a lot more entries or else everyone's asleep at this ball.

Pam, This was a beautiful dance and the personification of the mountain brook was amazing to say the least. I am sitting here sighing at the imagery your words just brought to my mind's eye. It flowed softly like the brook you spoke of and it is so peaceful. Thank you for sharing another of your masterpieces. This is absolutely breathtaking. I bow humbly to the maestro. Love you my friend, Joyce

Oh, this is good. I'm certain J.S would have approved. I must admit I had this in mind at first, but found the ornamentation put me off somewhat: too ambitious for me while still learning!
However, that's two beautiful Rispettos to enjoy while I try to get my brain round another kind of dance.
Lovely contest. Hope you have a ball reading all the entries.

Fingers and ripples; gentle cascade and lilting serenade...you combine music and elemental grace
in seamless form. There was never a doubt you could
    do it! Loved the read....Blue

    Excellent!

I love this Pam; unfortunately, I am not one for entering contests. I am not good with different forms and only write what looks and sounds good to me.
I do think this was excellently written.

    wonderful sound

I love the minuet in G and, coincidentally, I played it yesterday. I see it has inspired great poetry from you.

When I read the poem, I can feel the lilting tumble of the stream at the same time as the fingers on the keyboard.

It's a lovely feeling when I play this tune on the piano, and the movement of the hands is akin to a tumbling brook in its merry dance, as you have expressed in your melodious poem.
