New Year's Wish

Wishful thinking is common when it comes to people and their resolutions.
I came to realize that the hard way last year when I made one and forgot to do it
So this year it isn't a "resolution" it's a wish.
My wish this year isn't peace on earth
Not to lose weight or quit smoking
I don't wish that love would last forever
It isn't for myself or for selfish reasons
My New Year's wish is simple, and those are always the best
This year I want nothing more then to see those I love
Become the best that they can be.
This year I wish that we could fight a little less
Love a little more
Have fun and be ourselves
But most importantly my wish this year
Is for people to step back and take a good long look
To weigh the consquences of their actions
My wish is for my children and my husband
My wish if for my mother and my friends
For Strangers and Aquaitances alike and different
My wish is for those I love not to take life for granted.
Life is precious, so short you hardly see
You can't blink or it will all be over
I wish for everyone close to me
To cherish what time they have left
To love their children, friends and parents
And value every moment God has blessed them with
For the very next it may all be gone.
