I am tired of angsty ants
walking on white walls
and clichéd moths circling candles
I am tired of cropped pants
and boob tubes too
I think I shall swat a fly

Wow! Hah! This was terrific. I had fun with this snippet. It should caption a photo of someone who's
'had it' in some area, choosing some kind of relief by illustration. An ant on a white wall is great.......and so vivid, my dear! Ah..........loved it.
applauding while giggling!

I love the alliteration and "clichéd moths", and the impatience is all too familiar to me. The reaction is familiar too, what a metaphor.

Don't you dare
Myra, don't you dare!
You know I care,
I speak for the fly,
If you swat he may die!
I wear the pants,
I'm the one who rants:
"Don't kill the ants."
"Don't kill the bugs."
"And nothing with bills."
"Nor pigs in the swill."
"And especially elephants!"
Mike
P.S. nice poem!

Haaaaaaaah..Loved your comment. It gave us a lesson on reconsidering the ecological balance!
Great verse to which comments on Myra's prolific poetics!

-
LOL at Mike!
As you know: some human beings are bugs and insects, animals and monsters, and I shall not kill a single soul, shall I?

Fresh and quirky wording and imagery--very well done.

Oh, this is fantastic. It has a fresh flavor to it that I have been seeking for inspiration.

Really Myra!!!
Some of them are just moppets who are confused by the consternation, others, older true, are angry that the harness for their wings have complicated strings, and they just chuck them off the cliff to watch them fall, some want to be better than they are and aren't too certain how that's done. Some are lost in the forest and the shadows menace them. Some are not so strong and do not know that dreams may be mended and patched.
Some think that they are alone, and surely that is not so? Is it not good to be weary for reason? Even its just to leave words that limp at the end of the dance leaving a small small smile, and a bit of romance?

Great write. better to swat a fly than the man with his fly open. And boob tubes? most of them would deflate beneath the swatter. Good luck in the contest, this is bound to be a winner!

Nice job. -
I think I swat 98 flies one summer evening when the rest of the crowd was involved in an utterly boring conversation. They seemed annoyed at the whooshing and splatting sounds at first, but gradually began to understand that it was useless to try to change my mind. I assembled the flattened insect corpses in an empty tea glass that stood on the middle of the table people sat around. It was almost full by the end of the evening and I had assembled enough energy for a 100 mile drive home. Swatting flies is great. Thank you for creating and sharing. Good luck in the contest and stay strong, precious Muse. Ack,
Chris
