When Christmas Comes ...

Missing image

When Christmas comes with gladness

Why, it's like a burst of rain

In the heat of Queensland summer

To meet family once again!

When Christmas joys bring wonder,

Oh, the home seems live with sound!

And, when Christmas comes with gladness

How young laughter spreads around.

And, when Christmas joys bring wonder

Why, it's like a life new-found

In the heat of Queensland summer

Young laughter spreads around!

Author notes

Australians live in the Earth's driest continent. That is not to say that our land is a Sahara. It is not. Howerver, Christmas rain at a family country homestead brings intense joy, especially when there is a family gathering.

I also love the picture as it juxtaposes what people often expect of Christmas and the true meaning which is felt in the heart irrespective of snow, reindeers or chimney pots. Lovely!

this is so joyous and heartfelt! you can tell the difference when someone is writing from the head or the heart and this is warmth through and through. Merry Christmas x

I would take rain over snow any day especially if it is warmer than 20 degrees farenheit. Christmas is a spirit that is celebrated in all types of weather.

    Yay!

Joy bubbles out through your lovely lines, and repetitions make a pretty song. Young laughter is a beautiful sound. Merry Christmas!
