"I did not take the last cookie,"
my brother protested 'till his face was blue.
My response, "I'd rather choke on your lies
than shed one tear because of you!"
I could not believe it happened again,
I saw him eat it with my own two eyes!
He smacked his lips and then grinned,
with those mean, horribly twisted eyes.
"Only a sick cookie stealing kid,
could be so squinty," I thought.
"You eat all the cookies!
Even the ones I bought!"
"Correction," said he,
"I ate ALMOST all the delectible treats,
and as they melted in my mouth,
I just savored the feast."
I could smell his gross breath,
and called for Mother,
she sighed and told us
we all had to get along together.
I tried to be kind,
I really did,
but it is very hard,
when you are only a kid.
I finally asked my brother
if we could share,
that way we could both have cookies
fair and square.
He said, "No, way!"
he looked at me with a weird look,
"I never knew you liked mince-meat cookies!"
I asked, "You mean the ones that are always over-cooked?"
As it turned out,
my brother was only teasing,
he ate all the cookies I did NOT like,
and left me all the pleasing.
Author notes
This was a fun one to write because my little brother really did steal cookies!
