Sarah, a dear friend of mine was raped & murdered. The fiend who took her life was trying to get info from her about me & she kept that from him. In many ways she saved my life, even before this event. She will always have a safe place in my heart & memories. Please keep her family & friends in your prayers & thoughts.

yes, that part of my poem was inspired by that line from the song "empty chairs and empty tables". it felt like to me like the line belonged in the poem somewhere for several reasons. 1- it was how i felt about her and what happened to her, it was basically my main feeling at the time and sometimes still is. 2- it just sounded like it belonged in the poem, just seemed right. 3- it was one of her favorite songs from that musical. 4- she should never have died that way, he wanted to get to me and she had nothing to do with it.

This is so very sad and so very heartfelt. No words of mine can possibly explain the deep level of utter sadness that your poem brought to my heart and my soul. This must have been such a very painful experience for you, my heart goes out to you. She must have been a one in a million person to you and to her family. What a very, very brave thing for her to do and what a tragic loss for both you and her family. This made me cry. oh my word... This made me cry! I am stunned at the emotion in this piece. The emotion was straight from the heart, and cuts through the reader like a knife. You did an excellent job on this! The only thing I can think of that would make it any better, is at the end, capitalize your "I"s, other than that, this is such a beautiful tribute to Sarah. I have always felt all thing happen for a reason, but I can make no sense of or find a reason for things like this to happen.
You, Sarah's other friends, and her family, will be in my prayers.
I know the pain of losing someone senselessly, but in a different way. One of my friends, who I'd known since I was 2yrs old, hung himself Dec 26th, 1992. I was 16yrs old. I know he was in alot of pain to follow through and kill himself, but also know it's different than knowing your friends pain & death was caused by someone else.
I'm glad I got to read your poem, although it's sad. If you believe in the power of God, know that He is with you and He knows your pain, and ask Him for guidance & peace.

This is a very sad occurrence indeed... Poetically I think there could be more depth - for it does leave the reader with many questions. For the face value of this pain; the poem leaves one in shock of how, why... More questions. For the immense pain that she suffered, all should grieve.
