Be Their Hero.

Why did you leave your baby,

Why did you walk away,

Was being a daddy too much to bear,

Why couldn't you just stay,

A beautiful baby girl was born,

She's never seen your face,

Twelve long years without a dad,

No sign not a single trace,

You threw away the chances,

Of being a hero in her eyes,

You left me to explain to her,

To answer all the why's,

To any other man out there,

Scared of parenthood,

Don't run and leave your child,

Be their hero like you should,

Being a daddy takes commitment,

Your life will change for good,

Let your child love you,

Don't reject your blood,

Tell your son or daughter,

How much they mean to you,

Don't turn your back and leave them,

Be their hero through and through.

    Great.

So amazing, dadès are soooo important. Some people just donèt realize that unfortunately. Great write, though i hope that you have not actually had to experience this... Xox.

Hi, Thanks, sadly yes I have experienced this. I wrote it on behalf of my daughter whose dad did walk out before she was born so she never got to know him or experience what it is like to have a dad around, but I see it as him missing out on a wonderful thing! My message to all men is to stick around when you find out you are going to be a father because raising a child is the most amazing thing ever.
Thank you for your lovely comment about my poem.
      Blessings

    you're right with every word

and I fully agrre to what you put down in fantastic forms and melodies. I don't mean to be too political though, but fathers who leave their pregnant wives/ young families often have more than one single problem. So the question is whether the topic can be broken down to "hero or not"? I'm a young father of two sons myself and I never wanted to miss a moment with my family. Good poem in good exterior form. Love, Herrlurch

I am apalled at how many people just up and leave their families. Unfortunately, we cannot keep the irresponsible and selfish from acting as they do. Very well written, dear!

    whoa..

i love this write.. it makes me so mad how parents just abandon their kids... -.- and it makes me sad that so many have to live without a mom or dad..

this poem makes me kinda sad.. because it reminds me of the fact that the last time i saw my father was when i was about three or four..

brilliant write.. i love how you made it rhyme, and it flows well. great job.

It makes me angry to know of men who just abandon their families, I hope others who read this will think about their actions.

Situations like these are hard both for the mother and the child. And I'm sorry if you had to go through this...
About the poem, I love it. Love the rhyming and how everything flows so well. Great job.
