Our Handfast Day

Today I stood beside you my Beloved
As your bride soon to be your wife
All nerves, fears and doubts banging in my head
This is forever not just for life
Then I see you and I know Beloved
All doubts cast away I know we are right
Today is yours and mine alone
Looking in your eyes I know the future is bright
The pledges cast in sacred ritual
Eternally binding our hearts as one
One ring never ending our love eternal
Jumping the broom our future begun
The scared pledges said and received
Love, Honour, Protection, Trust
Respect and Truth the promises made
Held dear in our blessed handfast.

I like how you included your fears and doubts in this poem and you embraced the joining together despite those. We are also thinking about doing a handfasting tradition in our wedding.

I am sure the goddess will bless your union whether you handfast or not. I must admit I found the binding iteself to be one of the most beautiful things, intensely emotional both of us were in tears. As our celebrant said I and you blend and then there is WE. The doubts and fears are natural but if you know where your heart should be you'll be fine.
