I was just a regular kid,
I mostly kept to a small group of fellow geeks.
But for some reason the popular kids saw something in me,
though I failed to see it myself.
They beckoned me to their legendary hangout.
I was stoic
but they were positively giddy.
I had never seen them like this before.
They offered me a chance to join them as a popular kid.
I was shocked and somewhat confused.
I told them I'd think on it.
As the day progressed
I became less and less interested in joining.
They constantly picked on my friends,
they were snobs,
and they weren't a fun group of people to hang out with.
All they did was tell stories of their times in the Hamptons.
I thought I'd give them a little taste of their own medicine.
I told them I was part of a much cooler and more popular group.
As they hung out with my fellow geeks and I,
we constantly tormented them
and talked about Star Wars.
They left disheartened and very angry.
I made my point and they left my friends alone.

GOOD FREAKIN JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cool!
its a little different here in britain but has many similarities. i was one of the "leaders" (for no better word) of the group of whom i guess you would call "jocks". i could hold my own with them and i had a reputation for being able to look after myself, which resultingly gave me a higher authrotiy over the others lol i noticed i was different to them when they started picking on others, putting them down and wasting breath on irrelevant superficial bullshit. so one day, in front of them all i told them what i thoguht of them and proceeded to walk off towards a group of "rockers", ""moshers", greebos", geeks" goths" whatever you wanna call them, as i had friends in those groups from lessons. they welcomed me with open arms and i am thankful to this day that i defected and saw the evil that resides within "the popular crowds". Awesome write there man, you nailed it right on!

AWESOME
That is so cool. I live in an area with a bunch of people like that. I was asked the same thing once. I treated them like that. Now they all hate me because I refuse to act like them and back stab my friends. I really look up to you for doing that. Overall a GREAT write. You get my applause virtual and real.

A very cool write. I was a geek in jr high school and high school, a real bookworm. You write quite well, also reminds me of an old movie: "The Revenge of the Nerds". Here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revenge_of_the_Nerds

When you stay true to yourself, it is then you are free to shine... And you did! Be a "popular" kid only gets you so far... Sooner or later you'd netter be able to put up, or shut up! Nice write!
