Skirts of insomnia

When silk skirts of insomnia rustle
and keep me wide awake,
I see with my eyes wide closed
colors of dreams yet to blossom.

I exchange silent words with the night,
innocent chitchat on a cup of mint tee
and play the piano in symphony of urban sounds,
until my soul melts with the town.

I recall memories of tomorrow that are yet to happen,
listening to velvet sounds of time slipping in sand man's hourglass.

Smooth as a good shot of Canadian Whiskey on a cold morning deep in the mountains.

I so very much liked those lines! They say pretty much how I feel and what I do (I enjoy drinking tea when I can't sleep) when insomnia strikes.
    Thanks for the pleasant read

I agree with Yemassee on the incongruities. They create a sense of confusion, which is how I feel when I don't get enough sleep. It's an interesting poem.

Thank for your wonderful comment. Insomnia plays some devastating tricks on your mind and all of this can really happen. Well except the piano part.

      Thanks for the comment!

    Intentional Inconguities:

    skirts rustle/wide awake
    I see/eyes wide closed (and wide/closed)
    silent/words
    memories/tomorrow
    piano/symphony
    velvet/sound

It's an interesting approach to wakefulness.

I think sandman is one work btw.
