MEMORY LANE OF THE '60s

The sixty’s Vietnam war and The Beatles
Hippies, flower children, and free love
Start of openly taking drugs and disco.

Assassination of President John F. Kennedy
Graduation from high school, first job salesgirl
Mini skirt and wearing of slacks everywhere

Payton place, scandalize show on Television
Dr. Kildare and Ben Casey every girl’s loves
Our first colored television set at home

Afternoon watching American Bandstand
Elvis, The Beach Boys, and Frankie Avalon
Sound of Music was our favorite movie

The draft was every young man’s fear
Draft dodgers going to Canada to live
Space race we were all glued to television

Life was good, but I’m glad I’m here now
I met the man in my life and married him
We had twenty-five years most of them good

The sixty’s were different from any previous
But I wouldn’t want to go back and repeat it.

    Love it!

You took me right back to the sixties with this one! Very nicely done. There was something truly unique about the sixties, but as you say in the last line "I wouldn't want to go back and repeat it" I agree.

I'm a bit concerned about a child of the '60s who can't spell "Beatles" and there are several other obvious mistakes. Some proofreading before submitting would have been helpful. Having said that, I will also say that I like the details of the time, e.g. TV shows and the mention of the draft.

    Thank you for the entry.
