I can't remember why we came
left the soft, familiar beauty of our homes and
travelled out to the wrong part of town
and back again.
Now here we are again;
exploring
a different sort of familiarity.
I rub my eyes and she
is laughing like its funny to be her.
I can hear the music outside
the hollow scratch of my fingers running over my ribcage
Inhale
Exhale
The shallow rhythm of life it
matters less and less
to all of us.
I force more air down my throat but I know I don't need it.
Not tonight.
Monochrome;
the planet spinning out of control
divided into shades of dark and light.
I rise up from beneath the floor and
shake hands with god.
Religion is
Another addiction.
I think most of us are
just weak enough to be free
of it.
I lock the door to
the place where they bring us
to be forgotten.
The wind of their voices outside
hissing
bone to bone I slide down the wall
the silent screams of Prometheus versus the chains of gravity.
one day they will open this door
and cross themselves as
they step over the pieces of us
we left behind.
Until then,
murder the light
and help me welcome darkness.
Author notes
I breathe this drug no more.
.....namely, in this case, cocaine.

I enjoyed this piece, you were very creative in your writing and in the structure of this piece. To many of us are enslaved by this demon drug as i am still it seems my will Isn’t as strong as i hoped. anyways good write and good luck.

not a trip, just a crash. The feeling of dying. can't sleep can't stay awake. thats coke for you.
-
lets see up top cross town pickup. second stanza start to trip. i would say its a combo of something (like shrooms and ganja). then the feeling like god. then betrayed by belief so you tossed in prometheus(a Titan who is chained and tortured by Zeus for stealing fire from heaven and giving it to mankind ) which i thought was a nice touch. but knowing you will have retribution you savor the pain and filth. funny part about the last is i am not sure if it is enlightenment or just the trip talking. regardless i enjoyed it.

the poem is about drugs, cocaine in particular.
