No summer sun this Christmas,
no paper's crinkle at dawn.
I'm alone, it seems, this Christmas
On a grim December morn.
Seven thousand miles from family.
Seven thousand miles from 'home'.
There's Christmas lights in Korea
but I still feel all alone.
Mum, she's tried her hardest,
to make a Christmas dream for me.
There's food and gifts and a stocking
underneath my tiny Christmas tree.
Tinsel hangs on window sills
and Christmas lights - they dance,
but I'd trade it all in to see them
if I only had the chance.
Merry voices through the telephone
remind me of all I'll miss
I wanted fun, thrills, and adventure...
I didn't sign up for this.
There's no carols I'll be singing
No midnight mass for prayer
I'm seven thousand miles from home
And Christ, I wish I was there.
I'm alone, it seems, this Christmas
And eleven months to go
There's more to 'Merry Christmas'
Than carols, food, and snow.
Author notes
I'm currently a month into a year's stay in South Korea, and understandably, Christmas has proven difficult for me.
Please tell me what you think

As always your poetry really hits home with me. Makes my few hundred km's seem like nothing. Being homesick is not fun, being homesick at chrissy must have been very hard for you.
Never forget that I'm here for you darlz. You've helped me through my homesickness, let me help you through yours? It's what friends are for
You know where I am.

Happy Chritmas Chris
Dear Chris,
I'm sorry to hear that you're so far away from home this Christmas. We had a sunless and cold Christmas day here, the coldest it's been for 13 years, but now on Boxing day the sun has come out.
I hope the sun comes out and brightens your day my young friend.
Lots of love coming your way.
Joan

Well...no you're not alone...Jesus is always there with you!! And He's the best One to spend Christmas with.
I am also sort of alone, but I am thankful to be in my homeland.
I know you must feel like you're on another planet right now..but no...you are not alone!!! You have many people praying for you just because you can't be home. And I pray that God will bring you peace and joy despite this seperation from the ones you love.
Your write is VERY heartfelt to me and I'm sure others will feel the same when they read it!
