I am starting to wonder
how many more bridges I will have to burn
until each and every foundation collapses
and all we are left with is ruins
of what there once was
and memories
of that life long ago,
vague thoughts of what might have been-
I will not catch fire
and get carried away by smoke.
In the hours long after the remains have cleared
I will stand as tall as I ever did,
burning in your mind like the bridges beneath our feet.

Poetry on fire!
I love the imagery in this write, so powerful and fatalistic. I like to concept of being impervious to the flames and standing unscathed at the end, nice touch. Thank you for entering! -
wow
This was really really well written. I liked this a lot.
"In the hours long after the remains have cleared
I will stand as tall as I ever did,
burning in your mind like the bridges beneath our feet."
Were really good lines...The ending was great....Very well written, and good luck in the contest
