The water foams as the waves crash down
Flooding the memories that I’ve recently found
It takes so much to recall what I know
When it gets swept away with the undertow
The sun is aglow above in the sky
But I don’t see a thing and I wonder why
Are my eyes closed or am I just blind?
I listen to the silence for a peace of mind
I can feel my memories slipping away
From the tip of my fingers and into the bay
I cradle my head in my hands
And move my feet through the sand
Under the setting sun I see
Nothing but one memory
A picture of me standing on the shore
Wishing and longing for something more
Something more than this small, boring place
Something more than the same old friendly face
Something more than what I can perceive
Something more than what my mind can weave
Then all at once I realize this
That something more is just a kiss
