Hear, o hear, I cry, my Christmas plea—
The season is upon us with its joys:
Tonight I place my Gifts beneath the tree.
First, of course, for children at my knee,
I wrap the choicest, sweetest Christmas toys:
Hear, o hear, I cry, my Christmas plea—
Next, for those whose love I owe in fee,
I crave choice words of blessing they enjoy:
Tonight I place my Gifts beneath the tree.
Then, for those whose lives reach near to me,
I carol to recall the Holy Boy:
Hear, o hear, I cry, my Christmas plea—
For those I do not know but who are free
With His good-will to all who share His joy:
Tonight I place my Gifts beneath the tree.
And last, for all who live on bended knee
To serve the meek, my prayers I employ:
Hear, o hear, I cry, my Christmas plea—
For tonight I place my Gifts beneath the tree.

Very nicely done. I enjoyed the way you went through the list of people touched by Christmas's gifts. You described each one very well and created a loving spell. From smallest toy to spiritual joy the song of Christmas was well sung. Good use of the Villanelle.
Love, Tom B.

Thank you. I wasn't sure about it...afraid of it becoming just too much, too emotional. The form helped control things a bit. But thank you for your positive response. That means a great deal.
Again, thank you, and best for a warm and wonderful Christmas Eve.
