On Christmas Eve

Missing image

On Christmas Eve, I think of all my friends,
the young and old, and everyone who spends
some time with me, and my heart overflows.
As time goes by, my own affection grows,
the circle ever widens and extends.

The wise and foolish, everyone intends
the best, though weaknesses bring other ends;
forgiving may bring conflict to a close
on Christmas Eve.

The world is aching, humankind contends
and thinks that other men must make amends.
They still require defence, who think of blows,
the road to peace is one which no one knows.
I hope for love which nurtures and transcends,
on Christmas Eve.

Sad to think that no one knows the road to peace. There are those who follow it nonetheless. Thank you for the offering of Christmas roses and wishing you happy holidays on this, the second day of Christmas.

Yes, there are roads to peace, do you think the line is faulty? If there is more than one in 100 people on that road, it would surprise me, but I would welcome it.
All the best in the new year!

    Dear Sweetpea,
Such a beautiful poem you have written on Christmas Eve. We certainly are blessed my dear Friend to live in a place where we have no fear of bombs going off on a daily basis. My thoughts go out to all the countries who are suffering and all we can do is send love and peace out to the four corners of the Earth.
Have a wonderful Christmas with your wonderful family.
    Love coming your way.
    Joan

Thank you for your comment and applause, Joan. You are right - peace is needed in all the houses of the world. We must clean our own houses first, to be an example for the rest, as you are.
      Christmas blessings to you!

    Dear Margaret,

Although the sentiments expressed in your beautiful poem were inspired on Christmas Eve, may they live in our hearts through the whole year which follows CHRISTmas Day.
    As Tiny Tim observed:
    "God bless Us, Every One!"

Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh

Many blessings to you Rahad! The essence of inner work is finding where peace is not, and restoring it. My friends are very helpful in this!
