Chorus:
Well I moved into town just the other day
People hurt everywhere but they just won't say
They all wave hello and they say goodbye
But in the dead of night I hear the awful cry...
Verse 1:
Of the lady down the street all battered and bruised
Who tries to hide the fact that she's been abused
Always wearing makeup, long sleeves, and pants
Used to be a ballerina, now can barely dance
She cries to herself as she looks at the knife
Why couldn't I have had a decent life~
She wants to tell her pain but nobody will hear
And finally tonight she will face her fear
She slowly slit her wrists since she's already in Hell
She didn't leave a note for there was nothing left to tell.
Chorus:
Well I moved into town just a week ago
People hurt everywhere but don't let it show
They all wave hello and they say goodbye
But in the dead of night I hear the awful cry...
Verse 2:
Of the little girl who lives across from me
I hear her pleas in the dark, why can't others see?
I see the shadows on the wall...fists in the air
Her mother beats her without a care
Her daddy does things that he shouldn't do
But to this precious angel it is nothing new
I hear her screams of pain pierce the silence
Living in a house of misery and violence
By tomarrow morning she will be deceased
This is how she'll finally be at peace.
Chorus:
Well I moved into town, it's been a month now
People want to leave the pain but they don't know how
They all wave hello and they say goodbye
But in the dead of night I hear the awful cry...
Verse 3:
Of the teen on the corner who's been through Hell
She looks in the mirror as her belly swells
She thought she was in love but he thought otherwise
When he looked at her all he saw was a prize
She told him she was pregnant, he told her he forbid
He said get an abortion and she told him that she did
Her family has disowned her and she lost everybody's trust
They all found she lied when they said abortion was a must
This tiny baby's all that's left to love
But she is still loved by the Lord that's up above
Chorus:
Well I moved into town to help heal the pain
People hurt everywhere with nothing left to gain
They all act tough but they know it's a lie
And I'm the one who hears the painful cry...
End: I'm the angel who hears each one die inside~

Actually I had the music set in my head...as I read. Sadly, your words are all too true. We all smile, say we're fine. Even when we aren't. I loved the song... the message is clear... If there is a way to get people to speak out more. Knowledge is power! ~
Thanks for entering the "Set the Bar" contest ~ best of luck to you~ Keep speaking out!
