nothing was going right
the father I looked up to
was now so low in my list,
he almost was not even on it
once all the evidence
had been gathered,
and my mom talked me through,
I found what a grave mistake
my father had made
anger tugged at me
hate overrode sense
and hurt embedded deep inside
the last thing I wanted
was to accept him back
someone who had been around
another woman
behind his mother's back
was not acceptable
but my mom told me
that shunning him
would bring us doom
no money for college
and all our possessions taken
was the last thing we wanted
so I made an oath
to never really love him
but to pretend
and in the end,
only we would gain
hard as it seems,
it will be worth it

A truly beautiful write.
Brought out the sadness and anger well..
It must be tough to find out the truth. But sometimes, that's the only way you can move on; to find out the truth.
I love the title of this poem. "Defining Moments" of your life, brilliant.
Thanks and good luck

WOW!
There was so much raw pain in your words dear... i understand the situation you are in... It's definitely hard... But you know that you have your mom, who will always stand by you no matter what!
You have so many people in this world who love you dear... we will never let you fall! This is definitely one of your most heart-felt poems! i was feeling so down as i read it on and on... i feel the pain you feel mate! Your last stanza was brilliant! great description!
Dear... you know that i'll be here for you! Just take care and don't let anyone or anything tear you down! you are strong and i have faith in you! keep the faith alive! love you!

Wonderful piece, so much feeling and passion clearly went into this piece. I also feel the hurt of having to accept someone in your family after what they did. I'm adopted and one day I will meet my mother and it will be hard for me to forgive just as it was for you, great work
