You always seem to hold my smile
when nothing's going right
and yes it's you who lays by me
in the middle of the night.
For weeks or months without a voice
an adult to befriend
I'd turn to you my cherished one
who'll love me till the end.
My strength has grown one hundred fold
with you beneath my hand
though fate still steers me sharply
down a road I hadn't planned.
Life has been a battle
but I won't give in at all
for then I simply turn to you
my angel very small.
I am a lonesome damsel
and my comforts are but few
a fading quilt, my country home
and my precious little you.
You are the courage that ignites
the smile to perish tears
here on my lap and in my heart
my treasured one for years.
No shaded woods or ocean blue
could mean much more to me
than the pride and love I deeply feel
with you upon my knee...

That is so beautiful. You've said it all and I know exactly what you mean. These wonderful creatures often do give us the strength to carry on. For one thing, they don't judge us.

I truly love your heartfelt homage to your cat ... I can understand your love and gratitude very well, since I have been recently adopted by an abandoned cat as well ... they are very sensitive beings and seem to be able to read our thoughts ...
I hope she will keep you safe and warm your heart and body with her furry love ...

much love,
marion

I don't cross much good rhyme here. This is good. It flowed without interruption. The rhyme didn't really seem forced either; which is a great thing.
