Except you

I know not to take anyone for granted,
So, I try to hold everyone close to my heart,
pushing them father away, and tearing myself apart
Giving each of them a piece of me, even if what I am
And the secrets I keep aren't theirs to see,
I keep to myself, but I make try to make sure that
If I keep everyone that means something to me,
Then I won't loose a diamond, while I was searching through stones
But, it's only little by litte, that I realize
People have changed, and those diamonds haven't lost their shine,
I've just become blind, and forgetful, muttering I don't knows, and okays
It's those odd and even days when I'm just sitting,
and chatting, and it hits me and I have to take it all in
It's kind of scary, to think that half the people you talk to,
Don't even know you, and scarier to think they don't want too
It doesn't really matter, I pass the time, I try to go on
Keep on moving, dancing, talking, sleeping
Never keeping still, at least not in my mind
Just to make the second hand clock move up the minuets
but for some reason...
with you, I'm slowed down...still
I'll be patient, I'll wait
Never waited for anything, anyone,
Except you

I like this poem especially the way it ended "Never waited for anything, anyone, Except you." One should not take people for granted.
