Selflessly

How do you gentle someone
    whose fingers have been singed
one too many times?

Can you give love and trust
      with the knowledge it won't
be reciprocated.
      Will you become the flame?

A bit of a quandary,
    confused beyond all redemption;
am i love?
or obsession?(his)

Soothing bruised clouds
      in stormy eyes.
Finding out,
        that watching bubbles
of laughter can be enough.

Yes,
undoubtedly it's love.(mine)
      Selfless.

    This flows nicely, and left me in thought after finishing reading it. I like the stanza "Soothing bruised clouds
    in stormy eyes.
    Finding out,
    that watching bubbles
    of laughter can be enough." the best. This is a difficult topic, and I really like how you have explored it.

    To me, the deeply rewarding power of reciprocity has almost nothing to do with us...it's something we kind of notice at sometimes and not other times. Your question: "Can you give love and trust
    with the knowledge it won't
    be reciprocated..." is piercing and yet, at the end of the day, it all seems to say so much about what we are made of; or, what we have become along the way. Reciprocity maybe can birth 'selflessness' and therefore, might respond to your question. I don't know... But with life having so many cycles, I wouldn't be at all surprised. This is thought-provoking... (your author notes threw me though after what I read...did I miss that much?).

    A very good write. Heartfelt and thoughtful. Good flow and tone. Lovely depth of feeling. Nice imagery and metaphor. Good word choice, nice alliteration and assonance. Very nice closing lines. A most enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing.

    Arh I'm sort of going through this at the moment. We've both been broken in the past. Hard to fix each other and know if we're in it for love or sympathy. I'm thinking it's love. Here's to hoping.
    Amazing background by the way.
    I love this aunt Desi. Especially this
    "A bit of a quandary,
    confused beyond all redemption;
    is this love? or obsession?"

    Peace to you for this holiday season. I love ya bunches
