silver bells

in damascene night-
the stirring wolves ring the moon
like a silver bell

Author notes

not a daydream but dreamy, I hope...I also hope that Shakespeare dosn't hate haiku!

Well, yes more dreamy especially with "damascene" used. I like this Haiku. A little different from what I have seen. I wonder did Shakespeare even dable in Haiku?

Sounds like a night one should not be abroad, but I like the scene and the tinkle of the bells, Couldn't find damascene in my little Macquarie durn it. A mention of the meaning in notes would have helped

ronnica- damascene is a blackish-blue iron made in Spain and used particularly in the production of arms and armour. What is particular about items forged from this exotic deep blue metal is that the craftsmen embellish them with inlays of silver or gold. That is what made damascene seem to me to be an excellent metaphor for the night sky embellished with its stars and silver moon.

Thanks for your thoughts, "katiebird"; part of the reason to write this poem was just to use that word. It's new to me,too, and I just think it's great!
