Moonlight marks slumbering arena
amidst hills of shaded green,
sanctuary guarded by transcendent elders,
awaiting for the four queens to collide.
From the North menacing hisses
invade night serene, forest wakes
with striking rustles, silent silhouette
travels fast, shimmering mirage.
Queen of spades rushes, vision of green.
She merges with trees, fading through their cores
in her silent conquest, an emerald shadow
carrying encrusted sickles with royal crest.
From the East thunder whips empty skyline,
chariot of charcoal cloud intrudes
pulled by violent winds and lightnings,
dashing under metal whip of their mistress.
Playful queen rejoicing on tormented horizon,
violet fury engrossed in her stormy dance,
blissful among crackles and sparks of her whip,
silver vessel, resting place for many men's hearts.
From the South vicious fissures erupt,
midnight world is set ablaze in scarlet hues,
passionate nymph of flaming silk
rides a planetary comet of shifting colors.
Bright ruby diamond adorns her chest
as she holds her sacred blade,
immortal ruler of crimson powers bestowed
to warrior queen of great prowess.
From the West whispered lullaby slips past
vigilant shadows to the other three.
Serpents of crystal liquids strenuously snake
bearing their mother upon their polished hides.
Gentle maiden in sapphire gown,
queen of clubs charges guided by her baton,
newly crowned, adolescent innocence
ready to be named in battle.
Moonlight marks slumbering arena
amidst hills of shaded green,
no longer empty as four women stand,
let the battle begin.
Author notes
I was so captured by the idea to create four kingdoms and it would have been longer to write about kingdoms so I give you the battle of the queens!

Yeah when I read this one I was pretty sure we had a winner. You could have made it longer and I wouldn't have minded one bit... don't be afraid to go back and add after this contest is over... it's all great stuff. This one is great because is departs from the source material juuust enough to add all kinds of interesting imagery, but stays nice and grounded in the card related inspiration. Very nice work,

I enjoyed the theme very much and I do plan to write about it more, but later on.

to see those with royality at their disposal...
who will win when the final blow is struck?...
will the bards sing about this battle within their ballads to come?
Interesting perspective!
Keep penning on one stroke at a time!
