Echo

Where are you, my love?
The wind blows cold and have you gone?

Are you, my love?
Is this but an echo of my life?

You, my love?
Is it you, the warmth, the love, the laughter?

My love?
Yes it is you, the mind remembers.

Love?
Mine or universal?  So cold without.

?

Please tell me what you think

Honestly...this was a little hard for me to read with so many question marks. There's a wealth of emotion packed into every line though, making it easy to relate to. And as has already been said, it brings back my own memories too...some good, some not so good...

This may very well say everything you wanted and needed it to say. I'd love to see your thoughts expanded more, but as always...it's what's in a poet's heart to write...or not write.

    Lovely, in any case.

    Best wishes,
    ~J.

I don't know if this is 'universal' poetry or something personal. In the end it does not matter. My problem is that loves long gone still blow cold and echo memories that I will never escape from. This piece brought back many memories for me. The head of the match was just lying there and you picked it up and struck it into flames. RC
