Mirror
why wont you lie to me?
Tell me that I am only
what I wish to see, cruel
cruel glass.
Counting freckles
and lines, the other day
I remember, you held such smooth gold
and my smile...
so why wont you tell a little fib,
everyone else does, haven't changed a bit
they say; unflinching for lightning bolts
that should follow such things;
mirror, I think you have a plan
to stand here the day after I am gone
and say aloud... how beautiful I was.

This is awesome...I love how you brought the mirror to life with brilliant imagery and emotion...
I loved every line and we can all relate...
TY for being real..That it is what I was asking for and even though the contest didn't catch many eyes, it caught yours and these few wonderful poems made it worth having

Wonderful! I'm pretty sure I've had the identical conversation with my mirror. "haven't changed a bit
they say; unflinching for lightning bolts
that should follow such things;" is great! Best of luck in the contest!

the mirror never lies for it only shows you a reflection of you. what nobody can see the mirror sees in you and shows you.
