A Perfect Star

You are
my life's reason
for living:
a star
in my dark firmament.

You are
an oasis of love
in the desert
of my soul:
a sanctuary, permanent.

I will
love you far
beyond the reaches
of Time's decay
or earth's demise.

Our souls
will always be
in total harmony,
reflected in
each other's eyes.

My love,
forever I am,
and you are,
a single, undiluted
perfect star!

Author notes

A dedication of love to the woman in my life--who shall remain nameless. She will know who she is.

star light, star bright, first star I see tonight...

This made me think of that old nursery rhyme and warmed me inside with the remembrance. I like the sustaining continuity of the love resonating in the subtle rhyme and currents of this poem. "a single, undiluted perfect star!" If she's as sentimental as I am, I think she would be looking through rainbows reading this. ~ Klassy

This is well written with sincerity which was felt by the reader. The subtle religious references held this love aloft as sacred, not just sensual or sexual but the truest of love's for one human being for another. The piece is imbued with an uncompromized lyrical flow which has a natural lilt. The longevity of such love will resonate for time immormorial whereas those that are only able to lust will know only the heat of the moment followed by the coldness after no inherent closeness, for true warmth lingers, resonates and is felt within the fronds of this life and the afterlife.A SuperNova indeed.
