echos of yesterday (bronze trophy)

Missing image

still here, this old house

great grandma, bent over the stove

preparing his dinner, he’d be home soon

she’d meet him at the door

their eyes twinkling for each other

gone so many years now

no more tomorrows, or are there?

    100th HOODWINK !

    Catz,

This is a thoughtful poem about the past, the memories linger but now only in whispers. I like the open ended ending, it leave something for the reader to ponder. Well Done!

You have been chosen as a victim of our 100th Hoodwinking Celebration for The Poetic Bandits group. We want to let you know we love AllPoetry and appreciate all you do to help make it the wonderful Poetic Community that it is. Your efforts have been noted and we thank you.

Beautiful write here, quite nostalgic and with a haunting feel to it. Congrats on the bronze :)
Thanks for your comment. Yeah- it was creepy. I couldn't/can't eat them as chocolate fish, they had to be melted down into melted chocolate for buns. Very good chocolate though- I just wish the person who'd invented them had invented them into something less animalistic or even fish that were just the shape;) I can cope with fizzy fish (not sure if you have them over there)- fish shapes with sugar on made of jelly- but that's about my limit. I guess I might be a vegetarian subconsciously, anything that looks like an animal I don't like eating (those lindt chocolate rabbits would make better pets than food). The gold membership (which is a lot of fun but I'm not sure if it actually improves poetry;)) is a gift from my dad. Well he gave me money and I chose to buy the membership with it.

    All the best

I've seen old houses like that, we had one up the dirt road that went past our house when I was a kid. I always wonder about the lives that once lived there, and what became of them. It makes for good poetry as you just proved.

And yeah, I'd say there are always tomorrows, and maybe my home will oneday be the subject of someone's wonder or poetry.

There is love that never wanes in these words Dee. The feeling of generations seeps through here. I love the fact that somehow you knew that grandma and grandpa had happy times behind these walls. An excellent take on the prompt. Thank you for this entry and I wish you the best in the Comp.

Much Love & Happy Holidays ♥
