[ Well, she hung herself, darling, ]

Well, she hung herself, darling,
She's gone now,
Are you going to let her kill you too?
I see the way you spend hours sitting and staring at the wall,
I think of you when you're sleeping and you think of her,
Not a girl you loved but a girl you lost,
To the decays of today's society,

Curled up in the bed,
My body molded around yours,
You stroked the top of my head with heavy fingers,
Said she didn't leave a note,
Said you shouldn't have left her alone in that room,
That night, alone when you knew it's possible she'd,
Never be all right,

And I listened, holding on tightly afraid I could lose you,
Because if my fingers weren't clasping your taught, hot skin,
You'd fall into limbo and be jerked into heaven,
And my heaven would be taken away,

You said I've done all I could and I had,
By listening night and day about a girl whose face I never saw,
By smiling and acting as though your pain wasn't bringing me down,

I don't know if you felt me crying,
I know I felt your tears in my neck during the night,
And I know the next day we sat their silently wondering,
How long ghosts could haunt the living,

And she's gone now, you don't paint anymore,
She's gone now you can't even say my name anymore,
She's gone now, she's gone now,
I'm here now, I've always been,
I'm here and I'm nothing but another ghost.

Thank you for entering my contest.

This is a unique poem for me...most people focus on how they feel, or might, or generalize the grief of everyone...so its nice to see it more personalized.

Its very heart-provoking, intense, and easy to feel..a great glimpse of how loss leads to depression, which hurts everyone else...especially those who didnt know the one who died...just saw the consequences.

This is a very sad emotional read. Such pain felt through the words and yet it describes more than one person in pain and more than one type of pain. I wish you all the best of luck in the contest.
