Prison Break

Abrasive words once scoured my skin
The pain the anguish I prayed for
the end

Pale and delicate now weathered and tough
Efforts to break me down have now built
me back up.

To someone else not the one you once
knew.  She was quiet and meek her
words very few.

Not afraid anymore and numb to your
touch.  Can walk on her own without
you as her crutch.

Judge and jury you sealed your own
fate.  Kept her locked in a prison
with invisible gates.

The ball's in her court she now has
the key.  Today's her release date
she's finally free......
