As they ran toward the cliff, it felt as if it were one thousand miles a way.
He started gasping, still out of breath.
She went closer to him and held his hand;
he blushed, wishing that he wasn't out of breath.
They got to the cliff,
he sat down, too tired to keep standing.
She looked around, seeing if there was a place to stay during the storm.
The sirens still wailed,
their warning piercing every one's ears.
She kept searching as the rain started to pour onto her shoulders.
Rain blurred her vision, making it hard to make out where she was.
She stumbled,
finding a three foot long hole.
She rubbed her eyes,
trying to see.
She got the water out away from her vision and saw the small opening.
She ran to get him,
he couldn't hear her over the sirens wailing.
She grabbed his hand and showed him the opening.
He motioned for her to follow him.
They tunnel got bigger as they crawled;
Soon they were able to walk.
They were in a tunnel, probably lead through out the city.
The tunnel got even bigger, and then it stopped.
He lit a match he had found earlier.
They saw scribbles on the walls,
they couldn't make them out.
He picked up some logs and put them into a pile.
He threw his match onto them and made a fire.
The entire room lit up;
they saw three tunnels.
They both knew that it would be hard to find their way out.
He sat down near the fire, the cave was very cold.
She went and sat next to him, only a few feet away.
They could hear the wind howling above them;
the howling sounded as if a final warning of something horrible that was coming.
As they sat near each other, some how they began to tell each other things they would have never normally told anyone.
He told her how he wanted to be in the Navy, something that was so personal he hasn't even told his parents yet.
She told him how she planned on going to medical school.
They sat closer together as they talked.
Within an hour they were right next to each other.
She started to yawn, as did he.
They kept talking,
about their hopes and dreams.
He said how he wanted a big family when he got married, she did also.
She started talking,
but he just stared into her eyes.
He thought that she had the most beautiful green eyes.
He kept staring into her eyes,
soon she stopped talking and returned his gaze.
They both stared into each others eyes.
She started to lean closer to him,
he leaned closer to her also.
Their lips touched,
she kissed him,
not wanting to let go.
He kissed her back,
with the same feeling.
Suddenly they heard a crash outside.
Then a rumble inside of the cave.
Pieces of the ceiling fell;
He pushed her out of the way.
Dust covered the cave.
The fire flickered,
but then grew strong again.
She looked around for him, peering everywhere.
Then she saw an arm sticking out from a piece of the ceiling.
The piece wasn't very big, so she moved it.
She moved it quickly and revealed
his
bleeding
body.
She saw that he had several scratches on his face.
He had long scratches on his arms and legs.
From his knees down his pants were gone.
His shirt was almost gone.
She dragged him closer to the fire.
He moaned and said her name.
Tears swelled her up in her eyes.
The room was silent except for her tears.
She was now all alone.
The winds still howled and another crash happened.
The ceiling fell, blocking one of the wasy out.
She nudged him to see if he would make a sound.
He sat up and gazed into her eyes again.
She now saw more scratches,
more around his eyes.
