To Earth Angel--Invitation to Pay it Forward!

You are the isle of a smile
the sing within a song
You are the soul to walk a mile
and the joy;  we tag along

You are the right in the rain
the dew to kiss the rose
You are the hug that heals my pain
the passion poetry knows

You are the flame to candle
the tender dance of night
you are a feather of the morning
the starling's upward flight

You are the darling of us all
the wings of Christmas Dove
You are the art of grace and heart
In a word......... you're Love!

Author notes

I have a lovely friend who began a thread on another site with a poem called "You are the Cheese on my Pizza"...and she invited all to add our own toppings. I would love to continue that here for all the different flavors you might wish to add for anyone who inspires you!

    Outstanding in its elegance.

Thank you! It's makes me smile that you found it worthwhile. This one was very light-hearted, but my friend who inspired a contest along these lines is such a joy.

How very beautiful, it made me laugh though, a boss i had years ago told me that he used to call his wife 'the yellow in wee' when they were having a fight LOL!! I think I need to print this out and send it to him so he knows what he should be saying.

i enjoyed your rhyme scheme, its alternating scheme of the first two stanzas and then its rhymes at lines two and four of final stanzas is a very nice scheme and allows the poem to gather interior rhymes until you have a lot of nice tones going on ...line three of the final stanza is a very very nice interior rhyme (art and heart) ... a very sweet sound rhyme as well as sight rhyme.

I am glad I read this. You have a natural way with your rhymes, and although it is not easy to do this without having the gallop of much of the poetry I read with much distaste, you manage to do it skillfully and well. You alternate your pacing and pull up at just the right time to prevent the amateurish gallop.

    nicely done, Karen

You are really kind about this one, Danni. It was a 'for fun' kind of rhyme, but suited Earth Angel, although she is very adept at different syles of poetry. I'm glad you found this not too much of a gallop.

Wow, she must be something indeed to be love itself. I bet I could bring out the worst in her! That's what it's all about here on AP, finding those who think we're worth a plug nickel or two...Earth Angel sounds like she's worth three at least.

    I'm sure she'll be tickled.

Earth Angel tells me her halo gets a little crooked sometimes, but she's a bit of heaven here on earth in my estimation. I didn't say she couldn't flame, so I suppose if you bring out the worst in her, Love might sting a little, but it's only because if someone tells you not to put your hand in boiling water, that it will burn, and you do it anyway, we-ell....

She'd love your plug nickels as much as I do and throw a few your way, too. Karen

    Gorgeous!

Mine will be less lovely, but salutory of a wordsmith.

The sense of grace and love resonate with the clarity of a pealing bell. Light shines from every word so that by the end I had goose bumps. I never cease to be amazed at the sensual delicate celebration of life that gently fills all your words until I am awash in the joy of being alive.
    Thank you.

    Love, Tom B.

This reminds me of "you're the top" by Cole Porter, but sweet and original - what a great idea for a poem to boost a friend! Your metaphors flow wonderfully in this gentle verse. Well done!

I may have bitten off more than I can manage of Linda's pizza by making it a contest, but I couldn't resist. Thank you for your applause and for the music, too! The analogy is wonderful. Will you pay it forward?

Bill. We need a contest for this, I think. It's fun! Will you pay a poem forward? ~ Karen
