One More Sip Of Life

Missing image
I'm trying to grasp the reason,
sure there's a lesson here for me,
though I've yet to learn it.
It pains me so, as I watch you
fade a little more each day.
Hear my cheers for you, my earth angel...
and take just one more sip of life.

Author notes

this is dedicated to my aunt, who is truly an earthly angel. She was found to have a spot of cancer on one of her lungs and in one lymphnode about 7 months ago. After many treatments of chemo/radiation the doctors found that the cancer was gone, but our joy of the wonderful news was shortlived, for here, only 2 mos. later, we find that it has spread to her liver...still, we haven't given up hope, for we know through faith in God anything is possible ...still it pains me as I watch her couragous battle and I see her fading, yet I don't want to let her go, so selfishly I ask that she take, "Just One More Sip Of Life"

Update- I lost my angel on Dec. 28, 2007 to this dreadful disease. She fought courageously just as I had begged of her to do. She died peacefully at home, which was her wish, surrounded by her family. She was in her right mind up until the last few moments of her death, and still had a wonderful sense of humor. About thirty minutes before she passed, she told my uncle, "aww, quit crying you old goat, it won't be long before we meet again". I was holding her hand as she took her last breath, and I felt her warmth turn to cold as life left her body, and though I miss her dearly, I know that she is now at peace and no longer suffering.

My prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Give her support, talk openly and positive to her about the disease. Most importantly, let her know how very much you love her and that she is not in this battle alone. May you find courage and strength in the loving arms of the Lord.

best of luck to you and your aunt hon... ill light a candle for you both. cancer is such a painful disease and sometimes the cure is worse... but i think it is even more painful for the people who love the person who has it to see them slipping. i dont think you're selfishly asking... no one wants to see someone we love so much go. i feel guilty coz i felt so much of myself in it first reading it as my husband is in jail and im not allowed in to see him. he was arrested on our wedding day... and when you read something like this it makes you realise how selfish you are being coz ill see him again someday,
    blessed be,
    georgie,

Cheers to you!Your love for her shows in this poem!Have you ever seen a tv show called "This is your day?"The ministers name is Benny Hinn. There are very many authentic miracles that occur at his crusades. If you go to bennyhinn.org and click on "television" at the top, you can watch this weeks shows for Monday and Tuesday! It shows a woman who was healed of total paraysis in his latest crusade in Venezuala. It is so touching! She held her baby for the first time, since she was paralysed three years ago, gving birth.I have experienced miracle through his ministry myself, so I can tell you for sure, the power of the Holy Spirit is present on his minstry to heal.
