Xmas is lost,
In commercial advertising.
When an ad is on tv,
My gullet starts rising.
So many lies,
And the torture of mothers.
The disparaging from the child,
And the anger of brothers.
Here in Australia,
No snow and no rudolph.
Only six white boomers,
With prawns and snags and golf.
The smoke from the barbie,
And the many Xmas cheers.
And all the "G'day mate's",
And the "Thanks for the beers."
But the TV and the Heat,
Are a combo you can't beat,
When you're running down the dam,
And you feel the sting from sunburned feet.
But Xmas is now dead,
It's now all in your head,
Except for Xmas shopping fury,
And the Man of White and Red.

This is a sad poem ...
and patently untrue as well. Have you ever considered that if people quit buying things at Xmas, 95 per cent of all businesses would fail, there would be a worldwide depression and most of the world's societies would crash into extinction? I suspect you entered the wrong contest here me bucko. I asked for no religious poems, and this is certainly a religious poem, although, like most modern so-called religious poems, it's an anti poem, just as most modern religions are anti-human, particularly the rightwing religions called fundamentalist. -

Its no longer about celebrations and family, but about money and material objects.
