Plywood box on runners
trailing Grandpa’s truck,
speeding, jolting
around horse pasture -
Eye streaming,
nose-hair stiffening,
teeth chattering
ecstasy!

haha, I remember scenes like this very well...our's was an old hood off an Oldsmobile that was pulled, horsedrawn when the snows were so deep we couldn't get out with the truck/tractor to feed the cattle. It was so bad that winter that helicopters were used to fly in feed for the livestock in our area. Anyway, I enjoyed this look back, and can relate to it very well. Well done.

Thanks, apoeticinjustice, for the beautiful memory you shared! Love the old car hood! Part of growing up then and there was the almost intuitive capacity to make/adapt whatever you had into what you needed. Yes, even poverty has its perks
