Oh! Lancelot
I lay here in thine arms
to crave our shameless love,
such rich embrace
no other arms could fold.
Behold mine eyes are heavy laden
from a lovers pace
alas thy trembling lips
are much too bold.
They seek mine own
thou kiss each tress
and wander much too nigh,
two bodies statue pale
in moonlight beams.
I swear that nought
save only bliss
could carry us so high
and leave us melancholy
with our dreams
I see myself in gentle eyes
for them there is no law
no other eyes
shall take the place of this,
so woo me now with gentle love
our hunger is no more
just words of sweet amour
betwixt each kiss.
My prince, my Knight,
thou stole a Queen,
It mortified a king.
I fear the very stars
that bear witness to this scene.
but hear my pledge oh Camelot
forevermore or when,
the sun has cooled to silver
and stars desert all men,
then and only then
or,
when tides forsake the shore,
of Guenivere and Lancelot
the world will hear no more.

An old favourite for me! I first read this poem almost a year ago and enjoyed it then.
Very nice to see it again, an Authurian love story well told.

Thank you so much for your entry in our contest 'Love' to look for the best 'rhymer' on Allpoetry, in our opinion.
As we have had nearly 100 entries this has been a difficult contest to judge and although not a winner, we thoroughly enjoyed reading your entry.
We hope that you will enter the rest of the rounds in our Rhyming Extravaganza.
All the best Sue and Jeff.
