Dear Daughter - Silver

Missing image

These are holy days, dear heart,
when family needs to draw
to the baby and the brother.

Oh, daughter, I do not need
you to be forgiven nor me either.

We are years beyond your instability
and I have more to offer
than motherly advice or truths.

I wrote you into my book;
you, who once needed a mother,
and I, who needed a baby girl
in hopes one day you might read
my soulful truths of you, of us.

For the love of the child and the man,
let us at least wish it were different
for all of us.

I feel as far away as Mary’s mother
to her own.  Is there not a star
to follow to lead us kindly back?

Author notes

such sicknesses can take hold and wrench one from a family so easily. I have an adopted daughter that is far flung due to illness. We love the same people. We have not talked for years...but she sends little messages through her sister.

We are on hold just now; my youngest in surgery as we speak, her new baby waiting for mri and ultrasound on a growth on her tiny head ( two and a half months and only 8 pounds), and a son-in-law who is recovering, thank god and miracles, from flesh-eating disease.

How far away this far-away daughter feels from all of us just now.

ty GeeEM, for the silver... and the reminder that all is not easy, as I write another letter to my first daughter.

ty Kathleen...as the years go by, I never waiver in the hope that she will one day get better and be able to live a full life...which, oh, wish of wish, includes me.

Afterthought seeps through the consciousness. Awareness comes when it is needed.

This is so sad Such bad things shouldn't happen to people who don't deserve it, life can be so unfair sometimes. But you seem to be very strong, as does your family. I'll be praying I hope everything makes a turn for the better. God bless/Merry Christmas.
