Pure mantle of white
covers earth as it sleeps
softly the snow falls
as the children count sheep.
As morning dawns bright
you can here gasps of wonder
in a magical world
a spell they are under.
Quick as can be
they're dressed warmer than toast
building a snowman
of which they all boast.
As fresh snowfall drifts down
they frolick in delight
snowballs tossed round
as echoes of laughter excite.
The search for Snow Fairy
begins in very hushed tones
creeping round icicles
to glimpse at her throne.
But elusive is she
so they head inside to the fire
still watching and waiting
as eyes start to tire.
Tucked up cosy and warm
in their beds for the night
softly they hear her
"Merry Christmas and goodnight".
