Howling at the Moon

I'm always looking at the streets
at my feet
counting the cracks on surface spaces
and I know I can never look into your gazes
I know I never reciprocate,
but I know they're brown, kinda blue
kinda looks like you've got something to hide
playful and cute,
I won't sleep tonight
the lonely parts amplified
between silent drags
an awkward smoke,
thoughts drifting into red lit blackness
your fingers trace the rings
I watch them dissipate
this is new and different
your slender body next to mine
I can never meet your gazes
because I know how far how deep
Kingston Row,
quarter past four
I see the sun from the window
behind the door
peeking over building tops

Love this. Good imagery and simple words that build together to a unified view of dawn. Almost an aubade.
