When asked: "the best thing about 2007"
I'll frown for a second,
Crevices of happiness and delight,
And I'll reply, "it was him"
His soft black hair tickling my face,
As i flung my body into his arms,
Thrilled at the sight of his gleaming smile,
His eyes resting on me, his thoughts of how lucky he is,
Perfect? no way, Lovable? always.
His arms were the safest place,
Trials and tribulations a plenty,
But he was always there,
A kiss on the forehead, a hand in a hand,
He made me smile,
Hugged me and made me feel alive,
I could feel his breath on my face, his hands on my skin,
He was my everything, the happiest memory i can hold from that year,
"the best thing about 2007" is always him.
Author notes
i've edited it slightly to fit into the 20 lines. the unedited version is in my poems if you would like to read it.

A huge congratulations on winning the gold. What a wonderous thing, this thing called love. You captured it and even admitted that you love in spite of any failings on his part. That is acceptance at its highest point. No one, none, is perfect. But we overlook the bad and embrace the good. HAppy New Years and may things get even better as each year passes.

Very sweet. Friends are the best gift we can have (outside of salvation) and finding a true one is worth their weight in gold. Nicely done. Thank you for participating in this contest~

The first thing i thought of at the beginning of this was that it reminded me of my bf and me. He graduated last year, and they had to leave something behind to an underclassman. I opened the senior book on class night and under his name it said "being of sound mind and body, i leave my love to...(me!)" I was amazed. it was soooo sweet. this poem was great. i could feel the connection you had with your memories of this guy. When you said he made you feel alive, it was very moving. I was just wondering, where did this love go? The memories seem fond, so i am assuming that you did not part on bad terms. anyways. nice work...

awww thank you very much!
the love will always be there, it just did not work out for several reasons, but he is the best thing that happened to me and we are still best friends.
