Art for Art's Sake

I paint snow;
Snow which is white
that reflects the night
with shadows.

Snow
on a canvass: blank
like a sauvignon blanc
and a shadow.

And from the trees

the icicles freeze

and the prism forms

and light transforms.

Color with such vividity!
It brings out such lividity!

Reflections from snow
Hiding in shadow

For when painting snow
you should know:
Never paint white,
but paint the shadow.

I like how you took my description as inspiration and still used it to fit the prompt.

Unique use of a common(-ish) phrase. The twist you add in context of this contest is refreshing.
Did you read some of my poems? This seems very similar to what I'd write. The use of subtle rhyme and quick wordings to shift the flow, all techniques I use.

I'm iffy on how often you reused the same words so often, even to rhyme them. That's a big no-no for me. You've got the entire English language; the pairing "snow/shadow" shouldn't come up four time, in my opinion. Try to flush out ideas without having to use the same phrasing.

Overall, the metaphor's gripping enough to keep this one in my mind.
